  1. Obtain a shower curtain you would like to add pockets too. The best shower curtain should be made of material strong enough to hold the weight of items in the pockets without tearing. Using a vinyl shower curtain is not recommended. Decide where you would like to put the pockets on your shower curtain and what fabric you will use for them. Mesh is recommended as it allows water to pass through, dries quickly and is not prone to mold and mildew. The mesh will also allow any soaps or shampoo that might leak in the pocket to be rinsed away. Decide how big you would like the pockets. Cut your desired number of pockets out of the fabric.
  2. Take a fabric crayon or fabric marking chalk and trace where you want the pockets to go. Look at the placement and decide if you like it or not. Make any changes in the layout.
  3. Using pins, attach the pockets to the back of the shower curtain. Attach the pockets with a needle and thread or a sewing machine. Use a heavy thread when sewing the pockets in place. These pockets will be holding a lot of items that get taken out of the pockets and then replaced on a daily basis. You want the pockets to be anchored sturdily.
  4. Once you are finished sewing, you are ready to hang your shower curtain and place your items in the pockets.
